Programme 2012 -2013 reviews

April 24th - Sandy Snowden
My Imagination: Wearing It, Showing It, Sharing It.
On her blog Sandy describes herself as a Textile Artist, a Fashion Designer, an Encourager and basically someone who really loves to sew. We spent a most enjoyable evening with Sandy and her creations. Sandy's love of sewing began with home sewing and supporting her young son at school. Sandy created costumes for many plays, for storybook characters and also puppets. Her interest in history was enlivened with historical costumes, Greek, Roman and in particular the Tudor period. We loved the Tudor journal that Sandy created, named The Elizabeth Pages. Sandy brought along a large number of her costumes that have been shown at many venues, they looked amazing displayed on dressmakers dummies and also on some of our members.

Nov 28th - Dawn Cameron Dick
One Woman Quilt Show

Dawn is a very experienced quilter and teacher. Her enthusiasm for quilting certainly came over in her One Woman Show.  The talk took us happily through more than an hour of entertaining stories relating to Dawn's amazing collection of quilts. When the talk was over we were able to take pictures and handle the quilts to our heart's content.  A lovely evening with a very generous quilter.

Sept 26th - Pat Deacon - Embroiderer,quilter and teacher

Pat came along to Heather Quilters at very short notice and gave us a guided tour  through her amazing art quilts.
Pat began her quilting career with traditional piecing and machine quilting, however, she very quickly began exploring different techniques and pushing the boundaries. Pat had always been a 'doodler' and with a background in  mathematics she began exploring abstract shapes and in particular circles and curves.
Pat very carefully deconstructed her quilts for us, she was extremely informative and we all learnt a good deal. It was a great evening.
